Auxiliary Programs

Americanism

  • All activities tending to perpetuate American ideals and to uphold he principles of American democracy.

  • Largely educational and divided into 3 phases – youth, adult and community

  • All matters pertaining to the flag or patriotic education

 

Auxiliary Emergency Fund (AEF)

  • Help raise funds to be available to our members in time of stress or need.

Cavalcade of Memories

  • Strive to preserve the memories and history of our Unit

 

Children and Youth

  • Assure the care and protection for children of veterans and to improve conditions for all children in our community and to include Junior members

  • To maintain a ‘whole’ child program with regard for all needs of children to include physical, spiritual, emotional and educational well-being.

Community Service

  • Carry out or cooperate in at least one project for community betterment each year.  To include but not limited to nursing homes, local library, beautification projects, senior citizens, Make a Difference Day.

 

Constitution & By-Laws

  • Review and update the Unit Constitution and Bylaws

Education

  • Take an active part in the development and maintenance of our school system that serve the needs of all children at all levels of education.

  • Strive to encourage and assist students to further their education.

 

Finance

  • Develop a well-planned budget to assure monies earmarked for various programs throughout the year.

Girls State

  • Teach and inculcate in the youth of America  a love of God and Country

  • Select local juniors in high school to spend one week in our State capital learning about the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of American citizenship

 

Leadership

  • Develop and prepare knowledgeable and capable leaders to carry on the growth and success of the Auxiliary by promoting activities that educate, motivate, and mentor mentors of all levels.

Legislative

 
  • Stay up to date with State and National lawmakers so measures important to the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will alert the Unit to contact our representatives to take action.

Membership

  • Membership is the foundation on which the program of the American Legion Auxiliary is built and the success or failure depends largely on how well the foundation is laid.

National Security

  • Maintain and promote a strong national defense by strengthening and supporting military service members and their families: blue star banners, yellow ribbon ceremony, greet returning service members.

 

Past Presidents Parley

  • Past Presidents put their leadership experience to offer counsel and maintain a scholarship fund for nurses.

 

Poppy

  • Organize Poppy day which is Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day.

 

Public Relations

  • Liaison with local news outlets to communicate the activities and services to our Veteran’s, youth and community.

 

Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation

  • Responsibility of the Units to bring physical comfort and mental cheer to the veterans in hospitals and nursing homes.
